Dexter Cattle
We raise Dexter Cattle, they are the original Homestead cattle, providing meat & milk also as Oxen. They are the original small breed cattle, not a miniture. They are great for smaller acreage, you can have 3 Dexters to every full size breed. Having only 24 acres it was important that we chose small breed animals. We have cross fenced our pastures. Our herd is made up of the herd sire “Jasper, and 5 cows several calves.
We have added two new heifers unrelated lines to our herd, they are Lola & Betty. The original cows are Charlotte & daughter Blossom, Diamond, Rosie & her daughter Lilly & her daughter Lucky. So we now total eight heifers, one herd bull and two new bull calves. All cows will go out to pasture this Spring with the bull so next spring we should have eight calves. Wooo!
